Markers are the places you want to remember — fishing spots, hazards, anchorages, dive sites, a crab‑pot location. Each marker carries a label, notes, and can hold photos and video. Drop one at your current position or anywhere on the chart.

Why it matters on the water
Local knowledge is worth more than any chart symbol. Markers turn "that great spot off the point" into a saved, labeled, annotated pin you can return to exactly — with a photo of the scene and notes on depth, bottom, or conditions.
How to add a marker
- At your current location — use "Add marker at current location" to drop a pin on the boat's position.
- Anywhere — tap the chart where you want it (or use the drop control) to place a New Marker.
- Give it a label, add notes, and Add to save.
- Attach photos or video (from the camera or your library) to record the scene.
What a marker holds
- Position — the exact coordinates.
- Label — a short name ("Crab spot", "Rock — awash at LW", "Anchorage").
- Notes — free text: depth, bottom type, conditions, anything.
- Photos / video — captured on the spot or added from your library.
How to use markers
- Return exactly — navigate back to a saved position.
- Warn yourself — mark an uncharted hazard you found the hard way.
- Build local knowledge — a growing set of annotated spots for your waters.
- Manage them (edit, view, delete) in the My Data hub (module 14).
Tips
- Mark a hazard the moment you spot it — drop at current location, refine later.
- Put the useful facts in notes (depth at what tide, bottom type, hazards nearby) — future‑you will thank you.
- Add a photo looking toward the spot; it's the fastest way to re‑find it visually.
- Sign in (module 01) so markers sync across devices and survive a reinstall.
Troubleshooting
- Can't attach media → Grant SeaVectors camera/photo permission in iOS Settings.
- Marker in the wrong place → If you dropped "at current location" with a poor GPS fix, edit its position, or re‑drop with a good fix.
- Markers missing on another device → Not signed in / not synced; sign in on both.
